Healing at ACTV employs a holistic approach.

Must have a strong clinical understanding of working with children who have experienced complex trauma.
The Nurse Practitioner at ACTV works as a key member of the treatment team.
Primarily responsible for the medical, health and wellness oversight of the students residing in the ACTV Residential Treatment Program.
The medical responsibilities for this position include initial and routine nursing assessments, prescription of medications, medication storage and management, training and provision in the administration of medication to the children and supervision of the nursing department.
This position documents treatment on each child's treatment plan.
This position ensures that the administration of medication processes meet the regulatory standards and the clinical needs of the residents.
This position will collaborate with the psychiatrist and reports to the Program Director of ACTV.
*Essential Functions:* * Assess children who report feeling ill or have other health concerns or emergencies and respond as appropriate.
* Assess, diagnose, and treat children experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disorders and other illnesses.
* Attend all training and staff development classes to ensure sufficient hours of training on an annual basis.
Notify supervisor if annual training hours are deficient.
* Attend and participate in all required clinical and administrative meetings.
* Collaborate with counselors, social workers, child psychiatrists, or other treatment team members to coordinate case management, client care, and medication management.
* Collaborate with guardians or relatives regarding conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.
* Complete psychiatric assessments including psychiatric history, course of illness, and response to treatment, mental status examination, and 5 Axis DSM IV diagnoses in accordance with agency rules and regulations.
* Comply with and implement the ACTV- Rite of Passage Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals/handbooks.
* Create and maintain accurate, current, timely treatment records as required, including intake, individual support and service plans, updates of plans, summaries, and reports of progress according to agency, billing, and regulatory requirements.
* Participate in the comprehensive treatment planning process, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment interventions.
* Ensure all medication adherence and medication storage policies and regulations are followed.
* Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for youth to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders.
* Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue medications including psychotropic medications and conduct regular assessments of therapeutic responses and side effects and educate youth and guardian when needed regarding all medications and side effects.
* Will provide after hours and weekend on call responsibilities.
* Other duties as assigned, verbally or in written form.
*To be considered, you should:* * Be empathetic, patient, and treat others with respect.
* Must be licensed in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner with full prescribing privileges.
Must be board certified.
* Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing.
* State-issued Controlled Substance Registration in Virginia.
* Valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Virginia.
* Graduation from a state-certified advance program (prefer psychiatric focus; however, will consider family, or pediatric certification depending on experience).
* Maintain yearly required CEUs/CMEs.
* At least three (3) years providing direct care to patients in the role of a nurse practitioner.
* Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test.
