*The Great Meadow Foundation is a 374-acre Field and Equestrian Sports Event Center located in the heart of Virginia's finest horse community, The Plains, Virginia.
Great Meadow was opened in 1984 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation with the mission to "preserve open space in service to the community and advance equestrian sport.
Founded by philanthropist, Arthur "Nick" Arundel as the permanent home of the prestigious Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase races, today Great Meadow hosts numerous events that draw 200,000 people through its gates each year to enjoy steeple chasing, polo, show jumping, dressage, horse trials, cross country running meets, rocketry, cultural fairs, and the annual Great Meadow 4th of July Celebration.
In 2016, Great Meadow doubled the size of the property, built World class equestrian arenas, and hosted the first FEI Eventing Nation's Cup ever held in North America.

*Job Summary:*
The Director of Operations, as designated under the authority of the Great Meadow Foundation (GMF) Executive Director, will oversee the event coordination at GMF and will work to ensure that events held at GMF are consistently efficient, cost-effective, and memorable.
The Director of Operations must be comfortable in a leadership role that demands a creative, business-driven mindset and the ability to maintain lasting relationships with the various groups and organizations that hold events at GMF.
*Objectives:*
● Oversee the planning and execution of multiple Class A, B and C events throughout the year to include, but not limited to, polo, Virginia Gold Cup, July 4th Celebration, dressage shows, show jumper shows, horse trials, rocketry, Scottish Games, and International Gold Cup.
● Uphold the GMF’s mission and vision with every event
● Take full responsibility for every aspect of an event
● Keep budgets and timelines under control at all times
● Develop an actionable plan for fundraising and managing monthly cash flow
● Comply with local, state and federal regulations and laws.
*Duties/Responsibilities to manage and complete with the Operations Manager:*
● Manage contracts (new, amended and renewed), certificates of insurance, and rider release waivers with the event contacts, where applicable.
● Establish and maintain personal communication with event contacts to determine needs and coordinate or facilitate arrangements with service contractors.
● Review and approve event site plans with the event contact, and grounds crew, if necessary, to ensure all items needed for public health and safety are met, to include, but not limited to, portable toilets, security, traffic, state police, sheriff, fire and rescue, trash, and parkers.
● Facilitate or manage food services and relationships with the County Board of Health, dependent upon the event, vendor registration for licenses (business), food vendor meal tax registration and inspections by the fire marshal.
● Represent GMF in meetings with event contacts and manage post event feedback.
● Provide event debrief and apply relevant changes for future events.
● Coordinate and oversee staffing, to include the grounds crew and volunteers for each event.
● Explore and develop new event opportunities.

● Experience drafting, reviewing, editing, negotiating and closing contracts.
● Experience working across teams/colleagues to ensure efficient communication.
● Excellent organizational, negotiating, and multitasking skills.
● Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a customer-service mindset.

● Bachelor’s degree.
● Managing budgets and tracking expenses.
● Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Acrobat, and Excel.
● Proficient with Google Office Suite.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.
