At the Virginia Department of Transportation, we have something for YOU! VDOT’s Fredericksburg District has exciting an opportunity available in its Residency Business Administration Department.
We are seeking qualified candidates to fill a Front Office Administrative Assistant vacancy.
This position provides administrative, financial, and other business support services for the Northern Neck Residency Business Office in Haynesville, Virginia.
Primary duties include maintaining the front desk reception and data entry into a financial management system for a variety of transactions such as: time and attendance, accounts payable, procurement, credit card direct charges, travel expenses, inventory, and other fiscal items.
Occupants of this role will prepare financial reports, interpret system-generated reports, and run queries.
They will review all transactions for completeness, accuracy, proper approvals and required documentation, and maintain electronic files in accordance with schedules, policies, and procedures.
This position communicates with internal and external customers to resolve discrepancies and requires string customer service skills.
Minimum Qualifications • Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office • Experience applying administrative practices • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines • Experience applying office business practices and procedures • Ability to compile, coordinate, and prepare reports • Skill in filing and document management • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues appropriately • Skill in providing and promoting good customer service to internal and external customers Additional Considerations • Experience interpreting policies and procedures • Ability to work independently • A combination of training, experience, and education in general office practices, procedures, or related field desired Special Instructions You will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.

This position is designated as essential to emergency operations and may be required to work outside of normal work hours, on weekends and holidays during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
