Major Duties Serves as Computer Aided Designer within the Business Operations Directorate, Field Operations Branch, Business and Support Services Division (MR).
Creates schematic design drawings of the retail sales floor for all Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) store types, new builds, remodels, expansions, and resets.
Works in conjunction with construction and other departments in all phases of projects, from inception to completion.
Proficient in reading and reviewing project documentation such as architectural/engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Reviews construction contractor drawings/submittals and highlights areas of concern and provides corrective feedback.
Produces drawings with a high level of accuracy ensuring they meet the integrity of brand standards.
Works with intermediate and senior level staff to review store layouts and renderings for accuracy and brand integrity.
Actively pursues continuous improvements, researches, and identifies industry trends and incorporates them into daily practices.

Responsible for selection and placement of standard and vendor fixtures, interior retail store planning and design, and merchandise layouts.
Analyzes store performance data to create sales floor layouts that best support store sales and maximize productivity of space, while enhancing the customer shopping experience.
Updates layouts based on changes in new planogram and merchandise direction, building dimension, and new company initiatives.
As part of the Store Planning Team, designs and adds branded visual graphics and wayfinding elements to incorporate in the store design to maximize the customer shopping experience.
Collaborates with the visual merchandising team to ensure in-store signing elements are highly visible, blends with building architecture, and creates dynamic in-store environments.
Develops and maintains a library of both Auto CAD and PDF files that contains current floor plans with department adjacencies, product placements and department square footages.
Works with the Visual Merchandise Manager to create 2D Auto CAD fixture blocks for both standard and vendor fixtures.
Develops standard store models based on store type, current sales volume, and new or existing field conditions.
Creates 3D renderings of interior and exterior elevations of prototype stores.
Aids in preparation of design presentations and produces renderings to communicate design intent in support of the brand standards.
May visit sites as required, to ascertain all field conditions that may impact the architectural design and floor layout phases prior, during and following project planning.
May attend conferences and meetings.
Prepares supporting documentation for presentations and proposals.
May prepare correspondence, briefs, action documents, routing sheets, point papers and slide presentations for use by management officials.
May travel to conduct work assignments.
May work a fluctuating work schedule to conduct work assignments outside of the typical workweek and work hours.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
This is a white collar position where occasional lifting up to 20lbs.

Qualifications BACHELOR¿S DEGREE in applicable field and 3 years¿ experience in Graphic Design, Computer Graphics 3D modeling OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates the ability to perform technical work in support of program analysis to evaluate and improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of the organization.
Skill in oral and written communication to prepare and present recommendations and solutions regarding issues based on analysis and evaluation of proposals.
Knowledge and experience with intermediate level computer skills is required (word processing, spreadsheets, database software, and computer drafting/architectural programs AutoCAD).
Demonstrated proficiency in 3D Modeling and graphic design software such as Sketchup and 3D Max, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
Knowledge and ability to apply Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques to design projects as well as design trends.
Eligible for incremental telework as determined by MR/MF policy.
