Job Description
Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System.
The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities.
Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.

Working cross-departmentally, the events coordinator’s primary role is to coordinate and execute internal and external events for Germanna Community College and its clients.
This position is community-facing and represents Germanna Community College to clients including businesses, community agencies, and individuals.
This role effectively communicates the needs of internal and external clients with departments including facilities, information technology, custodial services, and business office.
The events coordinator will regularly interface with Student Services and Academic Affairs and Workforce.
The events coordinator regularly leads committees and teams to execute large-scale events.
This role will utilize exceptional detail management to ensure that events run smoothly from inception to completion and may be directly involved with set-up and tear-down and day-of logistics for events.
The role will use creative vision to establish a cohesive style and design for internal events across the college.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Outstanding written and oral communication skills, ability to clearly articulate client needs to internal and external partners Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external partners Attention to detail and proficiency in managing complex processes Ability to quickly learn new forms of technology, especially procurement software, scheduling and event planning software, and hybrid and virtual meeting tools Demonstrated proactive approach to resolving problems Strong priority and task management skills, demonstrated ability to manage planning and executing multiple events concurrently Ability to design event themes, décor, and displays Ability to draft and edit contracts, create invoices Employees must be able to work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, and community members with a commitment to diversity as a learning outcome to be culturally respectful, professionally competent, and civically responsible.
