Must have previous ED or ICU experience.
Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and clerical/administrative activities.
Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
Performs designated sterile and aseptic procedures using proper technique (i.
e.
, venipuncture and phlebotomy, IV insertions, and foley insertions).
Maintains sterile field while handling instruments during procedures.
Performs bladder scanning, IV starts, blood draws, assist with 2-person foley insertion, application of external urinary devices, and ECG.

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent Preferred X Required
Required Skills
Certifications:
Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) (may obtain week of orientation)
Required: Current VA State CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) License, or EMT B or C
Minimum Work Experience
Required: 2 years of experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant or EMT for ED, ICU.
