Job Title: Coordinator of Payroll
Location: Financial Service
Pay Grade: Administrative Scale Grade A06
Work Calendar: All 12 month staff
FLSA Status: Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Payroll, this position performs technical work involving the coordination, calculation and set-up of employee contracts, contract changes and terminations.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Process employee contracts and terminations
Coordinate with Staffing Specialists and appropriate Payroll and Benefits staff to ensure needed personnel actions are entered and processed in a timely manner.
Calculate correct daily, monthly and annual pay amounts and enter them in the payroll system.
Calculate payoff information for employees who are not completing their contracts and process in the payroll system.
Complete all steps of new hire, job change, termination personnel actions.
Provide information to employees regarding their monthly salary allotment or payoff as necessary.
Reconcile and maintain records
Reconcile contract changes with payroll entries.
Maintain appropriate records and files.
Maintain communication with employees regarding their salary payments.
Process Payroll Changes
Verify time and leave reports submitted from schools and departments; and make changes as needed.
Process and maintain leave records.
File monthly payroll records accurately.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma with supplemental courses in bookkeeping, accounting and minimum of two years of related experience.
Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Pay and deduction codes within ERP system.
Stafford County School Board policies and procedures.
Laws and regulations related to data privacy and pay principals
Standard office procedures, practices and equipment
Skills
Operate computer and other standard office equipment necessary to maintain records.
Maintain and create intermediate Excel spreadsheets, Google Sheets and Google Docs.
Follow detailed procedures and perform mathematical computations with accuracy.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work environment is inside, with low, temperatures that are controlled and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
The work is light work, requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
