Title: Cost Analyst Location: Elkwood, VA, USA Reports to: Accounting Supervisor Job Type: Full time, Salary Exempt Duties and Responsibilities: Works in the finance department: Responsible for analyzing data from numerous systems to create reporting tailored for the business.
Produce reports that will improve profitability and margin, analyzing and reporting on ad-hoc requests, whilst creating and maintaining operational dashboards within agreed time-scales.
Ensure internal controls operate effectively in all areas including data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, financial reporting, and adherence to corporate policies and governmental regulations.
Define processes for product cost estimation.
Research and explain variances.
Work with the finance department to implement and apply cost accounting policies and procedures as they are derived.
Develop financial models and assist in strategic initiatives and critical decisions Assist the Accounting team in developing budgets and forecasts Maintaining internal controls at the plant for operations, sales, and finance.
Perform product/plant cost analysis to support facility operations.
Essential Job Functions: This position is an office position.
At times this position may require the following: Able to work evenings and weekends if needed Extended periods of reading and computer use Lifting of up to 25 pounds unassisted 10% travel Qualifications: Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a history in finance.
Prefer a background in cost accounting in a technical/manufacturing industry.
The cost analyst will be working closely with the CFO and will be expected to compile financial status reports regularly.
An ideal candidate will be organized and analytical, able to recognize errors and correct them as efficiently and possible, and have excellent problem solving skills.
3+ years relevant experience in a cost analyst role, preferably in a technical or manufacturing field Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability accompanied by knowledge of manufacturing costing principles—understands P&L and balance sheet dynamics Ability to communicate in simple, impacting terms, with a penchant towards both action and teamwork Detail orientation, with grasp of how to assure one’s accuracy while managing reporting requirements with data from multiple sources Strong Excel analytical skills, including ability to perform lookups, pivots, data handling Working experience with ERP and the Accounting software Due to federal requirements, qualified candidates must be a US citizen or permanent resident EURO-COMPOSITES® offers a highly interesting, challenging working field with a success-oriented team.
