We are currently seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant to work out of our Service Center location in Warrenton, VA.
*Job Summary:* The General Ledger Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the general ledger at the corporate service center.
This role involves ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, reconciling accounts, recording intercompany transactions for subsidiary companies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain financial integrity.
This position will report to the Corporate Controller *Key Responsibilities:* *General Ledger Oversight:* * Maintain and manage accurate and up-to-date financial records.
* Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations.
* Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
*Zero Balance Bank Accounts*: * Manage and reconcile zero balance bank accounts, ensuring proper funding and accurate recording of transactions.
* Implement and optimize processes related to zero balance accounts to enhance efficiency and reduce financial risk.
* Collaborate with banking partners to address any issues related to zero balance accounts.
*Financial Reporting*: * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
* Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits to provide necessary documentation and explanations.
*Process Improvement*: * Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the general ledger function.
* Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
*Cross-functional Collaboration*: * Work closely with other departments and subsidiaries to address customer inquiries and resolve issues related to transactions recorded by the corporate accounting team.
* Collaborate with finance and executive teams to provide insights and support decision-making.
*Qualifications:* * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA designation is a plus.
* Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in accounting.
* Experience in managing zero balance bank accounts is a plus.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
* Proficient in accounting software (NetSuite experience is a plus) and Microsoft Excel.
* Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
